How we check scholarships
Anyone can copy a list of scholarships. What is hard, and what matters to you, is knowing that someone actually looked. Here is exactly what we do.
Before anything goes on the site
A person on our team does all of these. Every time, for every listing.
- Open the official page. Not a news story about the scholarship, not a blog post — the page belonging to the school, company or government office giving it.
- Check the deadline. It must be there, and it must not have passed.
- Check who it is for. The school level, the course and the place must match what we put on the card.
- Check that there is no application fee. If the provider asks you to pay to apply, we do not list it.
- Check the organisation is real. A real address, a working contact, a proper website — not a free email address and a phone number.
- Write the summary in our own words. We never copy and paste someone else’s page.
What you see on every listing
- The link to the official page, so you can check it yourself.
- The date a person last looked at it.
- Whether other students have reported a problem with it.
After it is on the site
- Every week we check that the links still work.
- Anything we have not looked at in 90 days gets flagged, and someone checks it again.
- If we have not checked anything for two months, a warning appears at the top of every page telling you so. We would rather admit it than look reliable when we are not.
What we cannot promise
Providers change their minds, move their pages and extend deadlines without telling anyone. Always confirm on the official page before you rely on a date. Iskoop is a directory — we are not the people giving the scholarship, and we have no say in who gets it.
Two things worth remembering
- A real scholarship never charges you to apply. If someone asks for a “processing fee”, it is a scam. Walk away and tell us.
- Never send money, bank details or a copy of your ID to anyone who contacted you first.
